As people embrace a wider variety of family and household structures, multigenerational living is increasing. Compared to 50 years ago, more adults are living alone, with unmarried partners, or in other nontraditional living arrangements.

Young adults, commonly referred to as Millennials, are significantly moving less compared to earlier generations during the same time frame in age. Additionally, three fourths of Millennials who did move went into a rental property, also more than any previous generation.

Generation Xers value family time above all else, and the home is the central hub of family activity, offering a place to unwind and connect outside of their busy work life. The following charts break down the various activities Gen Xers engage in during their spare time at home.
