The Beachcomber Café opened its doors in August of 2006 in the former location of the Whistle Stop. Located just off scenic Route 1 between Newport Beach and Laguna Beach, The Beachcomber is in the Crystal Cove State Park. Mere yards from the beach, this eatery serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner year-round.

The Menu

Breakfast at The Beachcomber features the standards such as eggs and omelets, but also swerves off with other offerings. The amazing coconut macadamia pancakes come with warm coconut syrup and the lemon ricotta blueberry pancakes are equally delicious. For a lighter but equally delicious treat, the beignets pair with coffee or your morning cocktail.

Lunch and dinner offer an equal mix of eclectic meals with the Beachcomber flair. Lunch has a mix of sandwiches and entrees available as well as The Beachcomber's signature cocktails. Dinner is an impressive array of entrees, from the Hawaiian style "Butterfish", which is cod topped with a tangy ponzu sauce, to the braised short ribs served with gorgonzola pecan ravioli.

Beach Dining at its Best

If you are on the beach, it can be difficult to leave the sun and surf. Don't fret, The Beachcomber has you covered. An express menu with items designed for eating on the sand is available and served hot and fresh.

The Mahi Mahi BLT is especially good, with thick portions of grilled Mahi Mahi on a brioche bun, topped with bacon, lettuce, and tomato. Grilled corn comes with a garlicky herb aioli and a lime wedge, full of the taste of summer.

If you have ventured down to the Crystal Cove Historic District, you are going to hit the beach. Make the trip complete with a stop in at The Beachcomber Café. Just do not be surprised if you find yourself making plans to go back to this restaurant for a second meal.
