Things to Do in Newport Beach for Free or Very Cheap

Harbor Dock - Newport Beach

Newport Beach is a place that typically comes with a high price. There are amazing upscale shopping centers, yachts and mansions throughout. The good news for families, there are a ton of family-friendly free events and activities going on all the time within the city. Here are the best free things to do at Newport Beach.

Free Second Sundays at Orange County Museum of Art
850 San Clemente Drive

Target sponsors this event at the Orange County Museum of Art. From 11am-4pm, enjoy family gallery tours, story time, hands-on art activities and live entertainment. Sometimes they even have a food trust on site.  You can enjoy this free event every month and it may take more than once to see all that is offered.

Newport Pier and Beach
1 Newport Pier

Hanging out at the beach and pier for the day with the whole family is one of the most popular activities in Orange County. You may want to purchase a corn dog and a shaved ice, but this inexpensive day will have the whole family smiling.

The pier and beach are kept clean so this is a great place to spend the day. You can always bring some cash to enjoy local restaurants and shopping, but it’s not needed to have a good day at the beach. Just make sure you bring money for public transportation or parking.

Peter and Mary Muth Interpretive Center
Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve
2301 University Drive

Experience learning more about Newport Bay at the Peter and Mary Muth Interpretive Center. Inside the Center are exhibits about the area, including a classroom with frog and snake exhibits, as well as a puppet and play area. Afterwards, sit outside and enjoy lunch in their shaded area or walk the trails surrounding the Center.

While Newport Beach can be an expensive area, these are a few of the great things you can do for free  or very cheap with your family.
