More About Dana Point Properties

The City of Dana Point provides one of the few harbors that can be found along the coast of Orange County.  It is easy to access the city from the road via State Route One, and Dana Point is a popular local destination for surfing-the area is the home to a legendary surf break called "Killer Dana."

Since it is located in the renowned "Gold Coast" region of southern Orange County-which is a scant one-quarter mile south of the famed Ritz Carlton Hotel as well as Salt Creek Beach Park-Dana Point real estate is truly in a class by itself.  Furnished with its scenic natural backdrop, imbued with an impressive sense of community spirit, and featuring some excellent school system options with a very low crime rate, it's really no big surprise that the city motto for Dana Point is "Harboring the Good Life."

Live Well In Dana Point Homes

With the Dana Point Harbor close by, residents can easily enjoy a day of boating, jet skiing, fishing, sailing, and kayaking year round. Because of the beautiful Mediterranean climate in this part of Orange County, even the winter and spring seasons are a perfect time for enjoying the beach.  There is no "off-season" for Dana Point residents, as they can feel free to explore the tide pools for oceanic wildlife or even go whale watching at various points on the Pacific coastline. There are also numerous hiking trails, bike routes, and walking or jogging paths available for the active resident who loves to explore the beachfront and all that it has to offer.  In fact, those using the bike path will find that it stretches conveniently all the way from Capistrano Beach to Doheney State Beach, a California State Park with overnight and day use facilities.

Capistrano (or "Capo" Beach), while maintaining its own ZIP code, is part of the City of Dana Point.  In the minds of many locals, Capo Beach remains one of the last "authentic" beach towns in Orange County, offering homes for sale with a more laid back feel for people in the Dana Point area, while still remaining within striking distance of all of the world-famous amenities that Orange County has to offer.

dana point real estateThe City of Dana Point makes full use of its wonderful marina throughout the year, using it to host an array of local festivals.  These events include the Festival of Whales (which honors the migration of the California Grey Whale), the Turkey Trot (which is one of America's most scenic coastline runs), and the Doheney Blues and Jazz Festival.  Dana Point has held the Festival of Whales celebration each March for over three decades, beginning in 1972. In addition, the Tall Ships Festival is hosted in Dana Point each September, which is respected as the largest yearly tall ships festival on the United States West Coast.

In addition to its many other community offerings, Dana Point is rapidly coming into its own as an arts community in the true Southern California style. This is probably, at least in part, due to the scenic and picture-perfect beauty of the area, which helps to inspire artistic and creative works from both professional and amateur artists alike. The city has implemented a program to promote "Art in Public Places," which is designed to provide public art along with new major developments in the area.  For example, several anticipated Town Center construction projects are planned to bring art pieces to the affected areas as the actual building construction begins. This enhances the immediate beauty of the area, while also providing for the development of the community for the future.  In other areas, public art works are included as part of the effort to maintain the central section of town as a vibrant, pedestrian welcoming, and culturally aware environment.

Embrace Dana Point's Stunning VIews

The Dana Point Headlands have long been a prominent feature in Orange County geography.  This scenic and historic area is currently being developed as a well-designed, 118-home, gated community offering breathtaking homes for sale.  Sixty-eight acres of the Dana Point Headlands building site still remain open and available to the public, preserving the natural beauty and feel of the area.  This area has been expertly planned to include an educational nature center, as well as hiking trails designed to exhibit rare and endangered plants that are native to the Southern California coastal region. From the Headlands, views are nothing short of spectacular.  On a sunny day, residents can see all the way out to Catalina Island, as well as glimpsing La Jolla in San Diego County to the south.  All of these amenities, including the nature center and trails, are provided free of charge for the public.

Schools & Education By Dana Point Houses

The educational needs of the city are served by Capistrano Unified School District (or CUSD). High school students will attend the Dana Hills High School, which is one of the oldest schools in the area.  DHHS first opened its doors in 1972.  Younger students have the option of public or private institutions in Dana Point for middle school, elementary, or pre-school (including Montessori School) facilities.  Some of the private schools available to residents include Saint Edward the Confessor School (for grades K-8), Broderick Montessori School (for pre-K to 3rd grade), and South Shores Christian Pre-School (for pre-K and kindergarten).
