The community of Corona Del Mar contains some of the most desirable real estate for sale in Southern California. Newport Harbor High School is also located in Newport Beach, however, and students attending public high school will likely attend one of these two options.  One interesting element of the education for students in Corona Del Mar is that Corona Del Mar High School provides instruction for more than the traditional 9th through 12th grades of high school.  The school also covers the 7th and 8th grade, which are normally covered at a middle school.  This is very convenient for families with children of the ages that would attend both high school and middle school. 

Other middle students may attend Horace Ensign Middle School in greater Newport Beach. The elementary school options for younger children in Corona Del Mar are likewise of high quality. Abraham Lincoln Elementary, Everett A. Rea Elementary, and Harbor View Elementary are located in Corona Del Mar, while Newport Elementary, Ray O. Andersen Elementary, Newport Heights Elementary, Newport Coast Elementary, East Bluff Elementary, and Mariners Elementary are located in Newport Beach. Preschools are also a part of the NMUSC, and cater to the needs of the pre-K children in Corona Del Mar. 

In addition to all of these public options, there are a variety of private schools in the area available for children from pre-K through the high school years.  These vary from religious programs to private schools such as Montessori programs, and there is truly something to meet the needs of almost any family from an educational standpoint.

Also within easy striking distance from Corona Del Mar, the world-famous Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm are immensely popular family attractions that are a mere 20 miles away. The lively cities of San Diego and Santa Barbara are a two to three hours drive from Corona Del Mar, and commuting to downtown Los Angeles from this part of Orange County is only a 50 mile round trip.  This makes Corona Del Mar an ideal bedroom community for anyone who wishes to work and play in the heart of Los Angeles, but also wants to be able to relax in an idyllic home environment away from the bustle and stress that is inherent to the city.  For those who wish to travel further afield, air travel from Corona Del Mar is smooth and hassle-free, since the community is located only four miles west of the John Wayne Airport.

There are a variety of exciting events held regularly in the Corona Del Mar area, including Laguna Beach's Pageant of the Masters, Dana Point's annual Festival of the Tall Ships, and the frequent surfing competitions held in nearby Huntington Beach. There is also easy access to numerous beaches in the area, such as the fantastic Corona Del Mar State Beach, as well as Crystal Cove State Park. Families may also want to take their kids (and even the grownups) to enjoy the marine wildlife and beautiful sites at Little Corona Beach.  This is truly something that every child should experience!

Appropriately for the beauty of the community, the streets in Corona Del Mar are named after flowers.  Conveniently enough, they also are arranged in alphabetical order (starting with "Acacia" and ending with "Poppy").  Each of the streets in the neighborhoods are lined with a different variety of trees, providing a lush and picturesque area in which people can relax and feel at one with the environment around them. Adding to the splendor of the area, well-kept flower gardens are located on each of the streets to display the kind of flowers after which the street is named!  In addition, the largest and most expansive flower gardens in the Corona Del Mar area are maintained at the Sherman Library and Gardens, which are regularly open to the public.  This site is located on the Pacific Coast Highway and allows tours of its beautiful plants, trees, and flower gardens.
