Things to do in Orange County for Free

While Orange County offers many great options for entertainment, sometimes it’s nice to do something fun for free. From parks to museums, here are a bunch of great things you can do for free in Orange County.

Bolsa Chica Wetlands

The Bolsa Chica Conservatory
offers guided tours of the ecological reserve and wetlands. It’s a two hour tour that talks about the endangered species, birds, history, ecology, and restoration of the wetlands.  They begin every 15 minutes on the first Saturday of every month. It’s a great way to spend time outdoors, become one with nature, and learn about a special area of Orange County.

Bowers Museum

If you head over to the Bowers Museum on every third Tuesday, you can get a free admission to the museum’s permanent exhibit if you’re a Santa Ana resident. You just have to prove your address to get in for free. Then ,on the first Sunday of each month, anyone can visit for free, and on this day you’ll get access to additional museum activities and the Kidseum. You can pay a small price for special exhibits, as well.

Many people forget about the beautiful parks in Orange County. It’s a great way enjoy nature, hike the trails, or camp out. Some of the park options for families include Heritage Park, Crystal Cove State Park, and Pioneer Park. This is a free way to enjoy time with friends and family.

Another option for free fun are the excellent beaches in the area. The beaches in Orange County are some of the best in the country. The only cost is parking. You can even bike and avoid this cost. Pack a lunch, your sun block, and beach toys for your fun day at one of the O.C. beaches.

There is so much to do in Orange County for free. In the summertime, there is a summer concert series full of free concerts, in addition to the things listed above. Whether you’re money is a little tight or you’re just looking for a way to enjoy free fun as a family, all of these options provide something great for everybody.
